O.E. from Massachusetts asks:
Our school class of 42 students and chaperones is going on a trip to the U.K. in June. With everything that has happened recently we want to be able to cancel for whatever reason we may have.

Dan answers:
O.E. was in luck. Our Student Group Deluxe plan offers the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) option that would return 75% of an insured's trip cost should they cancel for a reason not listed within the standard policy trip cancellation reasons including anxiety, scared to travel, school board cancelling the trip, or a student’s parents not letting them go due to bad grades or disciplinary issues. In this case, the per-person trip cost was $1,093, and the premium paid per person for CFAR coverage was $61.50 (including the teachers and chaperones.)

To qualify to purchase and exercise the CFAR option the following rules must be met:

  1. Your payment or deposit for this plan is received with or before the final payment for your trip; and

  2. You have paid the travel supplier for the full cost for all nonrefundable trip costs for tour trip prior to tour cancellation of tour trip; and

  3. You cancel tour trip 48 hours or more before tour scheduled departure

In addition to trip cancellation benefits beginning at 12:01 a.m. the day after plan purchase, while on the trip each person is insured for $25,000 of primary (first-payer) medical, $100,000 emergency medical transportation, $500 missed connection, $750 travel delay, $1,500 baggage, and $300 baggage delay.

Had a great experience purchasing trip insurance. The agent was very friendly, helpful, and fully explained the different options. Will be back! - Robert K.
