Keep winter sports going by taking a trip to Chile
Created 7/15/2010
Hardcore ski and snowboard fans want to be able to engage in their sport year round. While the summer heat makes that impossible up north, those who travel to countries in the southern hemisphere, like Chile, can enjoy fresh powder in August and September.
Chile offers travelers a host of options in terms of ski resorts. Travelers might enjoy the convenience of El Colorado, which is located very close to the capital of Santiago. Or they may opt for something more remote and challenging, like Portillo, considered to be one of the most difficult ski mountains in the world. Still others may decide that they want a more relaxing ski vacation, and spend time at Termas de Chillan, which offers full spa facilities in addition to slopes.
Skiing and snowboarding are hazardous sports no matter the season. In addition, the remote nature of mountains means that should skiers require medical attention, it will likely demand an airlift helicopter to transport them to a facility, which can be quite costly. By ensuring that their travel insurance plan has a short term major medical policy, winter sports fans can keep up the thrills all year long.
