Scuba diving and more in Jamaica
Created 7/9/2010
Adventure travelers are always looking for a hotspot that will satiate their tendency to explore. One great destination is Jamaica, where sunken ships, coral reefs, and breathtaking waterfalls await bold and brave vacationers. However, travelers should take care to ensure that they have suitable travel insurance before engaging in any hazardous activities.
Helium.com recently listed some of the top spots in Jamaica for scuba and snorkeling. Travelers looking to dive may want to stay in Montego Bay, as the area boasts some of the cleanest water on the island, thanks to the Marine Park. Government officials have protected the area, ensuring crystal blue waters. Its a great spot to explore Airport Reef, which features tropical fish and varieties of coral.
While the water may be a bit murkier in Port Royal, divers here can explore sunken ships. Many excursion companies will guide snorkeling and scuba enthusiasts and provide underwater cameras and equipment.
Back on land, there are still many activities to keep adventurous spirits entertained. At Reach Falls, travelers can hike around the surrounding area before jumping off the waterfall into the calm lagoon below. Of course, travelers might be a bit more willing to engage in this activity knowing they're covered by their travel insurance policy in case of an accident.
