AOL names most risky honeymoon spots
Created 6/28/2010
Honeymoons are a great time to book an extended vacation in a beautiful location. While newlyweds spend some much-needed time together and celebrate the end of wedding planning, they don't want to be worrying about what might happen to their fragile finances in case of theft or accident. With that in mind, traveling couples may want to consider adding travel insurance to their registry.
AOL is also helping honeymooners out by listing their most dangerous spots that are also popular post-wedding destinations. While these countries are certainly not the most dangerous locales in the world, those who plan a trip there should exercise caution and definitely back up their plans with an insurance policy.
Australia, at number three on the list, is generally considered a pretty safe area. However, those who venture into the Outback, as many couples do, will want to beware of the various poisonous animals, like snakes and spiders. Even swimmers checking out the Great Barrier Reef will want to have medical insurance in case of a jellyfish mishap.
Other countries that made the list have been in the news recently for political instability. Thailand is a frequent target of terrorism and has been caught up in violent riots as of late. Police attempts to seize a drug kingpin in Jamaica left many dead, not all of them directly involved in the conflict. In these more dangerous regions, a life insurance policy that extends for the length of the trip might be desirable.
