Leisure travel a popular option for the holidays
Created 11/18/2009
While many people are planning road trips or flights to visit relatives this holiday season, others are going to enjoy some relaxation time on a cruise.
One very popular option this fall is Royal Caribbean International's new Oasis of the Seas cruise ship. The vessel is the largest in the world and according to an ABC News report, boasts 16 decks and 2,700 staterooms. The report noted that a sister ship, Allure of the Seas, is expected to debut in November 2010.
According to the Cruise Log report on the USA Today website, industry experts expect fares for the
Oasis of the Seas to make their way downward over time from their current highs. Improvements in the cruising industry could be a sign that consumers are feeling more confident about the economy, and that they are also taking advantage of discounted fares that have been common in the industry.
One thing to remember when enjoying a cruise is that if illness strikes, it could be a potentially expensive process to secure the necessary treatment, including a possible medical evacuation. If that eventuality does come up, people with travel insurance are among those better equipped to deal with it.
